Best of Columbia

For all you native Columbians and out of town-ers who are Columbia fans, here’s what’s the best (and worst) in Columbia according to readers of the Free Times.  Personally, I think the list is pretty accurate.  And for you folks that live here and think the 2006 Lt. Governor race is already decided, take note as to who was the runner up for “Best Local Politician.”

Oh man, you must know i'm going to post to this one. highlights of my many opinions of this poll:

traffic? in columbia? you have got to be kidding me. our traffic is not even a blip on the radar. 3 Rivers Music Festival used to be great a few years ago. Now I agree w/the article i read calling it "Bobstock" because Coble just gets musicians he likes. It's lame, as evidenced by the low ticket sales of late. I'm going to have to disagree about the locations for having sex in public. Doing it on the 50 yard line @ Williams-Brice stadium is way cooler.

Ok, on to my rants/raves:
I agree about the Busted Plug Plaza. (Who thought that was a good idea?) Carrabba's is excellent, as is Group Therapy for a college bar. Jake's does indeed have the best deck and Rosewood Florist does nice work.

Rants: Maurice's is nasty--Palmetto Pig should have come in second after Shealy's. Schiano's is by far the best pizza. Just go order a chicken & mushroom if you disagree w/me. The best Thai restaurant is the one on St. Andrew's across from the Bi-Lo and near Ci-Ci's Pizza. It is a teeny-tiny restaurant. Order the pad-kee-mao (sp?). you won't be sorry. As an ice-cream expert, Brusters is by far superior to Marble Slab. Don't get me wrong. It is only by tenths of points that i would award Bruster's. They have that birthday cake flavor! It is frozen crack in a cone! I have gotten 4 people addicted to this flavor. No joke. Last but not least, i do believe my hair guy is the absolute best. I will never ever cheat on him. ever. He is J. Thomas (over by Columbia Place mall) and he is worth every penny. Never have I gotten so many compliments on my hair. He can read my mind, i swear.

Questions for anyone reading this:
What Late Night Food place ISN'T a greasy spoon? I mean, does anyone really want a salad at 3am? These are redundant categories. Same can be said for Sandwich Shop/Deli/Subs categories. IMHO, one of those should have gone to Panera Bread. If you haven't gone yet, drop what you are doing and go. Now. Oh man, it rocks.

I'd like to hear if anyone has visited the following because i keep hearing about them: The Whig, Moe's, Eggroll Station and the Sunday brunch @ Liberty's.
